Making your own Liquid Watercolors makes total sense. It is so easy to do, and very inexpensive. Liquid watercolors can be costly to buy, and if you use a lot of them as we do, then it is really worth the – little – effort!
These homemade paints really work well. I would use them for any art & craft Project.
The advantage of making your own paint is that you get to decide how ‘much’ color you want to add. Add a little coloring for pastel shades or a tiny bit more for vivid colors – like the ones we made above!
Ingredients:
Liquid Food Coloring or Gel Food Coloring – Gel is usually a little stronger
Water Color Paper (A4) or Water Color Postcards
Add the desired amount of water – the amount of liquid watercolor paint you want to make.
Then to each container add a drop – or two – of food coloring. You are going to have to experiment a little with the colors – as food coloring differs. Make sure you add a drop at a time – food coloring is more powerful than you think!
NOTE: This paint may stain clothing – because of the food coloring – so make sure to wear aprons when painting!
