It’s almost time to ring in the new year, and these NYE wishing stars are the perfect addition to any celebration!
This year, more than ever, I’m excited to celebrate NYE. 2020 has been a wild year, and I’m definitely heading into the new year with a wish or two. Of course, like any year, there’s been plenty of beauty amidst the chaos. Learning to savor slow-living, filled with quiet afternoons of crafting is certainly one of our year’s highlights.
The naturally beautiful combination of cardboard and botanicals has become a favorite crafting base in our home and this sparkly version is perfect for NYE.
The base of our wishing stars are a simple cardboard cutout- the perfect way to upcycle some of those boxes from holiday deliveries.
We painted ours with a neutral, metallic gold paint that gave them a subtle shine. Once our paint was dry we coated our cardboard wishing stars with mod podge to adhere the dried botanicals and glitter.
The best part of this craft is that you can use anything you have on hand for decorating your stars- torn tissue paper would be a fun option! What would you use?
When the glue was fully dry, I use a hot glue gun to attach a thin stick to the back of each star. I love how quickly these transform from a simple piece of cardboard into wishing stars!
Once you’ve twirled them around on NYE you can tuck them into your playroom for all sorts of imaginative play. Who doesn’t love a magic wand?!
My family will absolutely be partying in our pajamas on NYE, but these sparkly stars will deliver all of the glitz and magic! If you create your own wishing stars, we would love to see them on Instagram. Make sure to tag me and let me know what your wishes are for 2021!
Pin the wishing star wand for later!
